While browsing yahoo, this article caught my attention.  And indeed, this is somewhat true.

In happy, successful relationships, both partners seem to be on the same page and to really enjoy life together. The more you have in common with the other person on the things that count, the more successful you are likely to be in the relationship. I call this the “compatibility factor.”

Here are seven forms of compatibility to look for in your valentine.

1. Personality Compatibility. What’s inside the person is the most important factor, because that is going to be there always. Decide what personality types you are most attracted to. Many people enjoy a great sense of humor, for example. Others look for someone with certain spiritual values.

Find someone you really like and can have fun with.   Think about how the two of you will get along down the road. Take your time to get to know someone’s true nature, because people often put their best foot forward at first.

 

2. Chemistry Compatibility. You have to click in the physical department. Being mismatched in this area can lead to resentments and have a long-term effect on your love life together. For example, if one of you believes in PDA (Public Display of Affection) and the other is adamantly against it, that may cause serious problems over time.

 

3. Communication Compatibility. Are you and your valentine on the same page in terms of communication? See if your conversations flow, and if they are enjoyable for both of you. When you’re in love, you may think you have the best conversations, when really one of you is doing all the talking.

While you are getting to know each other, keep conversations real and fun.

Avoid the temptation to talk about past relationships  it can be a downer and you don’t want to turn your date into a support group. Focus on what you enjoy.

 

4. Friends and Family Compatibility. This comes later, usually after you have been dating for a few months. Do you get along with one another’s friends and family, or are there clashes and conflict? If you don’t get along with your valentine’s inner circle, then the relationship may not work, unless you love the person enough to grin and bear it.

This does not mean that if your valentine’s friends and family are not exactly your cup of tea you should dump him or her. Some you will like and others not. Consider how close they live to you and how often you will need to see them before deciding this is a deal breaker.

 

5. Health and Nutrition Compatibility. Are you a health food nut or a junk food junkie? Are you a speed-walker or a channel surfer? See if your health-related lifestyles match or not. Although this may seem silly, later in life health becomes more of an issue for people.

 

6. Financial Compatibility. Money is one of the things couples fight about most often.

If you share similar financial goals and means, this can be very helpful.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions about how the person likes to handle their money, especially as you get to know each other well.

One question you can ask is what your valentine thinks is the best way to manage income and bills. If you agree, then great. If you need to learn more about finances, take a course and read books and articles on Yahoo! Finance to get your financial health on track.

 

7. Lifestyle Compatibility. Having common interests can really help in a relationship. If you share a passion for something, you can have even more fun together in your free time. You can also expose each other to new interests, which can be exciting. However, if you absolutely hate sports and he has season tickets to every game in town, this may cause a lifestyle clash.

 

What if you’re not compatible?

Sometimes, there are so many clashes in so many areas that the relationship begins to suffer. What can you do if you and your valentine are not compatible? You can:

 

1. Take an inventory of your relationship. You can look more in depth into life’s domains — green flags that bring you together or red flags that pull you apart.

 

2. Accept things as they are. The main idea is to look for workability, not perfection. We have to let some things go or we’ll never be happy in any relationship. Enjoy and appreciate each other for who you are!

 

3. Change and ask for change. If you are both willing to make changes, be specific and set realistic goals about what you are willing to do and how things could improve between you. Keep the lines of communication open.

 

It is much more effective to choose a compatible partner in the initial stages of dating than it is to “fix” something that is “broken” later. It’s hard to move on, especially if you are already in love and committed. In any relationship, you will need to work on things.

 

Enjoy the journey; I hope that this will give you a start to know if you have indeed found your Mr. or Ms. Right.

Say I Love You in your own Little Ways

These are from Jennifer Good.  She says showing your affection and emotion can be a simple and effortless act when you incorporate these little ways to say, “I love you!”

1.       Kiss the inside of your partner’s hand

2.       Leave a love note for your partner to find.

3.       Blow a kiss.

4.       Mark designated “Loving Days” on your calendar.

5.       Arrange for take-out and have an indoor picnic.

6.       Feed each other.

7.       Wash your partner’s car and leave post-it notes with loving messages for them to find.

8.       Frame a favorite picture of the two of you and place it next to your bed.

9.       Share a bottle of wine or champagne.

10.   Send loving messages on your partner’s pager or cell phone.

11.   Leave a romantic message on your partner’s answering machine.

12.   Slow dance.

13.   Hold hands.

14.   Go star-gazing together.

15.   Dedicate a love song on the radio.

16.   Cook a meal together.

17.   Watch T.V. together in the glow of candlelight.

18.   Meet your partner for lunch.

19.   Plan a surprise date.

20.   Kiss passionately… often.

Why am I still singLe?

What so earthly reasons  why am I still single until now?  Which group do I belong then? Still unattached and no commitment to call my relationship…  Perhaps I belong to one one of these reasons?  Ikaw, san ka kasali?

 

1. DESTINY ADIK Eto yung mga naghihintay kay “Destiny” na gumawa ng paraan para pagtagpuin sila ng kanilang mga “partner in life”.. ayannn… kapapanood nyo ng “Serendipity” eh feeling nila ang nangyari sa movie eh mangyayari rin sa kanila such a cliche.. hindi ba nila alam na kung walang effort destiny is useless.
2. PERFECTIONIST/ MAPILI
Yes, isang taong perpeksiyonista. Yung tipong dapat ganito ang magiging kapartner ko. Pag may nakilala, nakita lang na pangit ang kuko o may dumi lang, turn-off na agad. O kaya ang daming ayaw. Ayaw sa mabait boring daw, gusto bad boy/ pilya pero kapag pinaiyak ka tatanungin ka bakit ang sama mo bakit mo nagawa yun! Adik ka ba?! Ayaw sa cute, ayaw din naman sa panget. meron dyan gusto ka ayaw mo naman.. yung gusto mo halos magtambling ka pero deadma parin yang stunts mO sa kanya! Pasaway ka rin e! Ano ba talaga kuya?

3. BUSY BUSYHAN
Opo, eto yung ang mundo e gumagalaw lang sa libro at ballpen kung estudyante ka o kaya naman sa computer at files kung office staff ka. Yung tipong aalis ng bahay ng alas 6 o alas 7 ng umaga at uuwi ng bahay ng 6 hanggang alas 8 ng gabi [baligtad naman para sa mga nag tratrabaho sa call center]. Sabay tulog na. Kapag sabado masaya na sila sa tv, sa pagkain na niluluto ni mama at sa linggo naman sisimba at maghahanda na ng kelangan para sa lunes hanggang byernes. Pssssst.. pause for awhile.

Define Happiness

What I’ve learned…

In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday.  Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older.

And, there on television, she said it was ‘exciting.’  Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day…like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first.
The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!

Maya Angelou said this:

‘I’ve learned that no matter what happens,  or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.’ (vERY COmmOn, but True)

‘I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.’ 
‘I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.’     

‘I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you’ll miss them when they’re gone from your life.’
‘I’ve learned that making a ‘living’ is not the same thing as ‘making a life.’
‘I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw some things back.’
‘I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.’
‘I’ve learned that even when I have pains, I don’t have to be one.’

Reward for being late

A Priest was being honored at his retirement dinner after 25 years in the Church. 

A leading local politician and member of the congregation was chosen to make the presentation and give a speech at the dinner.          

He was delayed, so to entertain and hold the guests from becoming impatient, the Priest decided to say his own few words while they waited.        

He narrated the following:  “I got my first impression of the parish from the first confession I heard here. I thought I had been assigned to a terrible place.  The very first person who entered my confessional told me that he had stolen a television set and, when questioned by the police, was able to lie his way out of it.  He had stolen money from his parents, embezzled from his employer, had an affair with the wife of his boss, taken illegal drugs, and gave VD to his own sister!

Just as the Priest finished his speech, the politician arrived with apologies for being late. He immediately started his speech with these words:

“I will never forget the first day when our very kind Priest arrived in our parish,” said the politician.  “In fact, I had the honor of being the first one to go to the confessional.”

Moral:  Well, its basically  very very obvious,           

Never, Never, Never Be Late…..!!!

Think about this. You may not realize it, but it’s 100% true.  

1.  At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.  (my parents?)

2.  At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.  (my friends?)

3.  A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don’t like you. (a colleague,

maybe?)

4.  Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.  (an old friend?)

5.  You mean the world to someone. (my other half?)

6.  If not for you, someone may not be living. (hmmn)  

7.  You are special and unique.  (with pride =))

8.  When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won’t get it, but if 

you  trust God to do what’s best, and wait on His time, sooner    or  later, you will get it or

something  better. (hopefully)

            9.  When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still come from it.   (learn from    

            your mistake, dont make the same mistake twice, else, i’ll call that a bitchy thing)
            10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned

your  back on the world.  (It’s just an attitude, dude, ATTITUDE)
            11. Someone that you don’t even know exists loves you.              

12.  Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.  
            13.  Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know and

you’ll both be happy  .  

            14.  If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.  

A THING OF THE HEART

1. They will always smell good even if it’s just shampoo 2. The way their heads always find the right spot on our shoulder

5. The way they kiss you and all of a sudden everything is right in the world
6. How cute they are when they eat
7. The way they take hours to get dressed but in the end it makes it all worth while
8. Because they are always warm even when it’s minus 30 outside
9. The way they look good no matter what they wear
10. The way they fish for compliments even though you both know that you
      think she’s the most beautiful thing on this earth
11. How cute they are when they argue
12. The way her hand always finds yours
13. The way they smile
14. The way you feel when you see their name on the call ID after you just had a big fight
15. The way she says “lets not fight anymore” even though you know that
an hour later….
16. The way they kiss when you do something nice for them
17. The way they kiss you when you say “I love you”
18. Actually … just the way they kiss you…
19. The way they fall into your arms when they cry
20. Then the way they apologize for crying over something that silly
21. The way they hit you and expect it to hurt
22. Then the way they apologize when it does hurt. (Even though we don’t admit it)!
23. The way they say “I miss you”
24. The way you miss them
25. The way their tears make you want to change the world so that it doesn’t hurt her anymore….. Yet regardless if you love them, hate them, wish they would die or know that you would die without them … it matters not. Because once in your life, whatever they were to the world they become everything to you. When you look them in the eyes, traveling to the depths of their souls and you say a million things without trace of a sound, you know that your own life is inevitable consumed within the rhythmic beatings of her very heart.

We love them for a million reasons,

No paper would do it justice.

It is a thing not of the mind but of the heart.

THE ROPE ACCORDING TO DAPHNE

Got this from Daphne. I’ve heard this before from our priest. It’s a li’l story with a BIG lesson to teach us.

The story tells about a mountain climber, who wanted to climb the highest mountain. He began his adventure after many years of preparation, but since he wanted the glory just for himself, he decided to climb the mountain alone.

He started to climb but it begun to get very late, and instead of preparing his tent to camp, he kept climbing until it got very dark. The night felt heavy in the heights of the mountain, and the man could not see anything. All was black. Zero visibility, and the moon and the stars were covered by the clouds. As he was climbing, only a few feet away from the top of the mountain, he slipped and fell into the air, falling at a great speed. (more…)

2008 SONA ni GMA

Old post:  This post is in connection with the SONA of GMA. Everyone didn’t feel good about GMA’s performance on how she handles the Philippines. What is so good about SONA? I think everyone is happy hearing that the cost of text will be cut into half. Meaning, a text would cost .50 cents. BUT, we have to register, as I’ve heard it right. =)

I’ve noticed while my boss is reading the newspaper, she laughed out loud and said, “Look, mayor wore a bahag!” Hehehe.
